The Story of JOJO’S

Kelly & Claire Scoot – Sisters, Founders, Food Lovers

JOJO’S Kitchen & Bar was born in 2018 from a shared dream between two sisters.

We wanted to create a space that felt bold but welcoming. Somewhere you could come for big comfort food, proper cocktails and genuine hospitality — not just a meal, but somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.

What started as a leap of faith quickly became one of Suffolk’s most loved independent restaurants. Within our first year, we were proud to win Best Newcomer Restaurant and Best New Business of the Year — a huge moment for a small, family-run idea that began with belief and a lot of hard work.

And this month, we’re celebrating 8 years of JOJO’S. Eight years of full tables. Eight years of loyal regulars. Eight years of growing, learning and building something we’re incredibly proud of.

When Things Changed, So Did We

When the pandemic hit, we didn’t stand still.

We launched JOJO’S delivery straight from our kitchen, bringing our food into homes across Lowestoft when people needed comfort most. That momentum led to our own dedicated hub in Pakefield, expanding our reach and allowing us to serve even more of the local community.

The support from our town during that time meant everything. It reminded us why we started in the first place.

A Proud Moment in 2025

In 2025, JoJo’s was honoured with the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, placing us in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide.

For us, that recognition reflects something simple: consistency. Quality. A team that cares. And guests who choose to come back.

A New Chapter at The Harbour Inn

Now we’re writing our next chapter in the former Harbour Inn — a new waterfront home for the flavours you know and love.

The name may evolve as we grow, but the heart stays the same: soulful food, warm service, and a whole lot of Scoot spirit.

Eight years in, we’re still proudly independent. Still family-led. Still passionate about what we do.

Why JOJO’S?

Our name honours two remarkable JO’s.

Joseph Flood, a 19th-century printer who once ran his business from our original High Street venue — a nod to the building’s history and creative roots.

And our foster sister, Joanna Simms, who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis in 2004 aged just 29. JOJO’S is our tribute to her — to legacy, love and resilience.

The name felt right. And from there, the story grew.

Midweek, Sorted

Right now, the Bun Lovin’ Criminal deal is running every Wednesday and Thursday.

Any burger meal for £14.50. (Beefy Boy and 911 carry a small supplement.) It’s bold. Generous. And exactly what we do best.

Eight years on — and we’re just getting started.
